Frequently Asked Questions

We strive to provide the most authentic cultural immersion experience tour. We have contacts all over the tour areas we cover and bring the culture of each place we visit the forefront of our experiences. We feel that anyone can travel to visit monuments and places, but we believe it’s the people who make the difference and want all of our guests to feel as they are a local.

At Knutson Travels we are committed to a great customer experience and because of that, all of our tours are accompanied by Josh &/or Natasha (minimum 16 guests per tour). Due to country-specific regulations, other tour guides will lead the tours.

We limit our tours from 16-26 people, depending on the country and the tour experience giving a more intimate feel to your cultural experience.

We offer three (3) types of tours:

  • Indulgence – for those groups/families wanting an exceptional tour experience
  • Escorted – a cultural experience tour with 16 – 26 like-minded travelers
  • Group – tours for friends, families, and groups, with the itineraries of Escorted Tours (minimum of 4 travelers). Prices may vary based on tour selected vs Escorted.

We customize every Indulgence tour so are unable to provide you with a sample itinerary. We also can tailor our regular tour to your group size and idea of opulence. Email us vip@knutsontravels.com

We love that you are wanting to travel with us!  We will pair you with another single traveler of the same gender or you can pay the single supplement and enjoy our tours from the comfort of your own room. Unless we find someone to room with you, or you find someone to accompany you, we will collect the single supplement on final payment. If you need help finding the single supplement price, please email us with the tour you have selected.

We feel you are able to find better rates through online discount travel sites, so we’ve excluded international airfare from our tour prices. All domestic airfare within each of our tour countries is part of the tour cost.

We have several key partnerships that will help with your international air booking, please visit our Travel Partners page.

We strive to make the tour as interactive with locals as possible and because of this, we do unconventional things i.e. we stay at boutique hotels with more local flare, we interact with the locals instead of peering at them from a bus. We make it so you feel like you are a country person of the places we visit.

We are currently updating our cultural links section and will be available shortly.

Learning about a culture before you travel is the best way to avoid “culture shock”, and it’s also a great way to learn customs so you don’t offend the locals by doing something you shouldn’t! Learn the language, watch movies, listen to music, the list goes on and on of what you could do to learn as much before you travel, and we’ve tried to provide you with as much education as we can. So stay a while, check out the Culture pages for each country!!

It is important to pack light!! You are responsible for carrying all of your stuff all of the time. We may walk several blocks or take alternate transport between our tour bus and the hotels. Remember, you can buy almost anything you may run out of in Asia. On all of our shorter duration tours, packing light is helpful, but not critical, as you will not change hotels during the tour. Pack versatile, comfortable clothing that you can layer for warmth or coolness. Expect some rain regardless of the time of year. For early spring or late fall tours, pack a light sweater, light rain coat and socks, a hat, and gloves. While daytime temperatures should be pleasant, evenings can be cool, especially at higher elevations.

Most Asian temples require respectful dress. This generally means shoulders and knees must be covered for both men and women. In India, men and women are expected to cover their heads with scarves, and everyone must remove their shoes. In Thailand, women are expected to cover their legs, and everyone must remove their shoes. On days that we visit these sites, your guide will warn you to dress accordingly. Many find that a light pair of windpants they can pull out of their daypack and slip on, or pants with zip-on/off legs, provides an easy, quick cover-up. Women could also pull on a light, non-wrinkle skirt over shorts and use a scarf to cover their head and shoulders. We recommend that you bring clothing that is lightweight, breathable, and non-wrinkling.
